Thursday School

What is Thursday School? -Thursday School is a preschool program that runs each year from September through March. The program began in September 1974 and is still going strong. The children learn about the alphabet, shapes, colors, and numbers. Each week, the children also have a Bible story corresponding to the alphabet letter of the week. Puppet shows and other teaching methods are used with the children to help reinforce their learning.

School is held Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Each class consists of 8 children with two teachers. This student/teacher ratio allows each child to receive the attention that they need at this age. Volunteer members of the Marysville Church of Christ serve as staff for the Thursday School program.

Special events- Throughout the year, there are special events that the children get to enjoy such as:

  • The Columbus Zoo comes to Thursday School and brings a variety of animals for the children to learn about and in some cases even touch.
  • Harvest Day is a special fall event where there are hayrides, games, face painting, and the children even get to pick their own pumpkins from our “pumpkin patch”.
  • Marysville Fire Department visits and teaches the children about fire safety.
  • Santa and Mrs. Claus visit Thursday School.
  • Marysville Police Canine Unit visits Thursday School on the day that we focus on the sense of smell.
